Call for Proposals: Student and Learners Research Projects

*New Deadline* January 22, 2025

Abundant Intelligences offers Project Funding to students and learners whose research aligns with and furthers Abundant Intelligences’ goals, and whose work will be supervised by an Abundant Intelligences Co-Investigator (https://abundant-intelligences.net/team/).

The goal of the Student and Learners Call for Projects is to support students and learners with experience or interest in working with Indigenous communities, or in research projects that may serve and contribute to the well-being of Indigenous Communities.

Proposed projects must be aligned with at least one of the Abundant Intelligences Research Areas:

– Language: Expanding the range of linguistic structures and language densities that NLP systems can robustly and appropriately handle;
– Storytelling: Develop (1) technologies that allow for robust and diverse user interaction and agency, and (2) more robust, contextualized machine understandings of the stories humans tell to articulate knowledge;
– Environment: Explore how traditional Indigenous territory stewardship practices can inform AI-driven land management and restoration systems.
– Multi-agent systems: Develop robust approaches to how diverse agents might interact in specific socio-cultural contexts, including modeling human and non-human actors.
– Socio-neuro: Modeling how humans draw on their socio-cultural context to learn and make decisions, and how situated socio-cultural intelligences can be modeled into AI systems.

The maximum total request amount is $30,000 CAD per project
